Content contributions for DNA
You love Africa. That’s why you’re reading this page and why you probably live on the continent or visit regularly.
We want to help promote Africa as a leading destination for Digital Nomads. We are competing with South East Asia, Europe and South America.
While there are providers potentially competing for traffic/customers in specific countries the overall goal of DNA is to cohesively promote the continent and provide a clear, open and honest dialogue of what visiting Africa is about.
If you would like to submit content or get in touch to contribute please complete the form at the bottom of the page.
What we’re doing
In order to be an engaging platform (Web/Facebook/Social/Email) we need to create and share engaging content.
- In order to do this DNA will no longer allow promotion of purely promotional/sales content to its audiences;
- We are accepting contributions of content that follows the general guidelines below;
- All operators and contributors content will be attributed back to the creators;
How we are doing it
Weekly update email
We are launching a weekly email update. It will contain articles and key content about what is happening right now on the continent.
We have already started collecting emails on DNA and have already gained subscribers.
Video platforms (YouTube/TikTok/IG etc)
We are launching native content on all video platforms. This content is primarily going to be interviews of Nomads and their experiences.
You can provide raw footage and we will edit, remix and distribute it at no cost as long as the content is of nomads or by nomads and is focussed on experiences and not just sales content.
Podcast
We are starting a weekly podcast. We will rotate guests each week and discuss the news content which is in the weekly email as well as any other relevant news e.g. security, mpox, visa changes, festivals and anything relevant.
Why we are doing it
This is because the engagement rates of DNA content especially on FB is very low.
- Most posts are seen only type of content is very low and only seen by a very small % (±100-150 people);
- The overall engagement of the group is very low with a small proportion of overall users seeing any content;
- The promotional content previously posted is literally killing the reach and core essence of what a digital nomad community is about;
A more engaged audience will better promote the continent and will lead you to better outcomes.
By showing you are an expert in your area/region or specialty you are and will position yourself with the right people in the right way.
Examples of ‘good’ content
We’re open to all possible formats but here are some ideas.
Long form interviews
The person answering the questions can be on or off camera if you’re camera shy.
On camera example
Well lit area is ideal. Camera on a tripod. Can also be from a phone selfie camera. Whatever works for you.
Off camera example
If you are off-camera then here is a good way to frame. Your subject should be framed in on the left or right 1st 1/3 and then you should sit opposite side.
Shorter edits
If you provide long-form content we can re-edit and remix it into shorts and smaller bits of content.
Editing content
We know you are probably very busy.
If you don’t have time to edit content but do have a few minutes to shoot it we’re more than happy to take your raw footage and edit it into packages.
Content ideas/Editorial guidance
This is a non-exhaustive list of the types of contributions which will be accepted.
